Nike Air Max 1 “Limeade” 2020

Inspired by the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, we have witnessed the release of ever so many great iterations of the AM1. Surely that early and mid-2000s were great years for collectors worldwide, for many different reasons. From the Air Max 360, the first pair to feature 360 Air, to astonishing collaborations. Yet, we feel obliged to mention the “Powerwall” collection from 2006 – 56 pairs, to be specific. Astonishing, wouldn’t you agree?

We can only dream of such things nowadays, but Nike never ceases to surprise us. Always one step ahead of the game, the end of this Summer is marked by the all-new and inverted Nike Air Max 1 “Limeade”. As expected, bubbly “Air” text is printed on the upper, this time around with a reflective finish. Green leather and mesh are found on the mudguard and toebox, sitting atop a crisp and contrasting white midsole and black outsole. Further elements are displayed on the Swoosh’s outline, contrasting yellow laces, custom lime-covered insoles and, of course, a retro-look for the tongue-tags.

The Architect

Believe it or not, the one and only Tinker Hatfield AKA The Architect was hired by Nike in 1981, years before the Nike Air Max 1 debuted. By applying his architectural background from 85’ onwards, the 26th of March of the year of 1987 will always be remembered by the release of one of the most important, if not the most important silhouette of all time: the Air Max 1.
