One of the longest awaited collaborations of 2020 is, without a doubt, the Sean Wotherspoon x Atmos x ASICS Sportstyle GEL-LYTE III. First things first: the silhouette is dressed in polychromatic vegan corduroy on the upper, together with its split-tongue feature. Surely this makes them even more quirky, in a good way. The pair will make its debut with interchangeable velcro Tiger Stripes (black, yellow, green and red) and to make it pop. Its mismatched colourway sits atop a crisp white GEL midsole.
ASICS, on the other hand, stands for “anima sana in corpore sano”, a Latin phrase which translates to “sound mind, sound body”. The year of 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the ASICS Sportstyle GEL-LYTE III. This sneaker had some great collaborations in the past, including our AFEW “Koi”, several Ronnie Fieg/Kith, Hanon or Footpatrol, to name some. They all boast out-of-this-world colourways, the epochal split tongue and, of course, cloud-like comfort. Most of these Collabs are build like the OG from 1990 with its killer shape. After having a bulkier shape on the recent GEL-LYTE IIIs, ASICS decided to bring back the old shape in 2020.
Mr. Sean Wotherspoon
Born on March 3rd 1990 and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Sean Wotherspoon is the co-founder of Round Two that opened its doors back in 2013. He is a sneaker designer, collector, YouTube series creator and, of course, store owner. In fact, his brick-and-mortar locations are known for vintage fashion and to pay incoming sneakers in cash, allowing sellers to get paid quicker. This allows for a faster flip and continuously changing assortment. Having joined forces with Nike, after teasing a collaboration with adidas, now behold the unmistakable Wotherspoon x Atmos x Asics Sportstyle GEL-Lyte III that will be available on 20.08.
